Identity Theft Prevention using LifeLock

February 5, 2008

lifelock.gifLifelock is a company that wants to secure your identity and guarantee your good name. They ensure it with a $1 million service guarantee! So how does a company like LifeLock protect your identity? The steps that LifeLock takes to protect your identity have been summarized below:

  1. Credit bureaus are contacted within 24 hours of you signing up with LifeLock requesting for fraud alerts
  2. Every time you apply for a new credit or someone tries to do something with your credit you will receive a phone call to confirm the same. If someone tried to do a fraud, the transaction stops straight away.
  3. LifeLock restricts the amount of junk mails you get within 24 hours of you requesting for it.
  4. Your name will be removed from pre-approved credit offers. This is supposedly an avenue to steal identities.

The entire process is repeated every 3 months to ensure that everything is working just fine.

The fact that many of us now have online identities, and a blog like Online Presence, is focusing on making money online, like many other similar blogs, services like LifeLock become that much more important. LifeLock is only $10 per month or $110 per year per adult, and this is not much to protect your identity.
