Speed Linking: 25th Feb 2008

February 25, 2008

speed-linking.jpg

Its been a while since I spread some link love. Here are some useful articles:

  • PhotoDropper allows you to add images from Flickr from right within the WordPress Dashboard. There is no need to go to Flickr to search for images any more! I’ve just installed this plugin, and hope to include it as part of my post writing routine in the coming days. You can read more about it at ProBlogger. You might also want to have a look at this article at Skelliewag on using Flickr Images.
  • TeachingSells is currently giving away complete access to its archives for a little as $1 for the 1st week. Do go ahead and take advantage of this opportunity.
  • Do you like BlogRush? If you do, you might want to have a look at Spottt - a new service launched by AdBrite, which seems to be quite similar to BlogRush, except that they use 125×125 graphic images. I’ve running it on this blog currently. Have a look at it in the sidebar.

More later…

Social Networking using Blogoria

December 26, 2007

blogoria.gifBlogoria is a Blogger Search resource connecting Bloggers with other Bloggers, Readers and Advertisers.

Once you create an account for yourself, you can share your blog details with other bloggers or participate in their Discussion Forums which is powered by vBulletin. Since the website is new, the forums are yet to take off full steam. This is normal and as time goes by, the forums should get more and more active. Just like sites like MyBlogLog, you can add other bloggers into your network.

Blogoria has an interesting concept going. Give it a try…

How to Rank #1 in Google

October 2, 2007

How to Rank #1 in Google Search @ Online Presence

So you want to rank #1 in Google for keywords that best describe your blog or website?

Given below is a consolidation of recommendations from a few sources.

  1. Don’t buy (or sell) site wide links for serps. Buy links from individual pages. Links from individual pages are far more effective when speaking of improving serps, not PR.
  2. Don’t look for high PR links only - start your campaign for a new site with PR 0-1 and slowly move up each week as you see your rankings improve.
  3. Control link placement speed. Remember of “Too many links at once” Google filter.
  4. Control the number of outbound links on your pages and on pages where you place your links, avoid link-farms, links to gambling, pills, etc.
  5. A link from a relevant website is excellent, but a link from a quality site of other niche or other language can also boost your ranking - so don’t ignore such links.
  6. Make links look natural. Use different link anchors, promote not only your main page, but your deep pages too.
  7. Don’t do reciprocal link exchange. [Source for the 1st 7 points: TNX at DigitalPoint on how to rank #1 in Google Searches for your keywords]
  8. Get inbound links.
  9. Have a good title tag for your page
  10. Have good content, and keyword density in your pages.
  11. Have meaningful ALT tags in your images [Source for Points 8-11: How to Improve Your Search Engine Ranking on Google]

Reviewback: You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours

June 23, 2007

Reviewback is an interesting concept that can help you generate some publicity for your blog! Its what I would love to call as You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.

reviewback.jpg

The concept is quite simple:

  • Submit your blog
  • Look for similar blogs that you want to write a review for. Click on the “Trade Reviews” button next to that blog listing. If the trade is accepted, both you and the other blogger writes reviews about each other’s blog!
  • Neat concept for getting free reviews of your site.

So, if you’re looking at generating incoming links to your blog, this could be a simple solution where you don’t have to spend a dime. Yes! You will need to spend some time writing reviews for other blogs!
