Banner Exchange Program: Nuacco.net

February 27, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

nuacco-logo.gifThere are several banner exchange networks that one can utilize to get some free advertising. Spott in my opinion is one such network. Today I’m covering another network called Nuacco.net. This is a small time network exchange program, which has not got the kind of coverage Spott has received. Not too many blogs/websites registered on the network as well. It uses 125 pixel x 125 pixel graphic ads as banners. This is a size that is gaining a lot of popularity.
Just like Spottt, you receive 1 ad impression for every 2 impressions on your site. Just not that, they already have an option to purchase impressions and clicks. 300,000 impressions cost $10, and so does 500 clicks. A very reasonable amount in my opinion.

To evaluate their service, I created an account for this blog on their network. Here are some statistics:

Hourly break-up of ads served from the site Vs number of your ads shown.

Conversion rate details is also shown. I received 2 clicks on my ads served on other sites. So, the 18-hour exercise resulted in a 125×125 banner space being utilized on my site, and I gained 2 additional readers. Not too bad in my opinion.

Speed Linking: 25th Feb 2008

February 25, 2008

speed-linking.jpg

Its been a while since I spread some link love. Here are some useful articles:

  • PhotoDropper allows you to add images from Flickr from right within the WordPress Dashboard. There is no need to go to Flickr to search for images any more! I’ve just installed this plugin, and hope to include it as part of my post writing routine in the coming days. You can read more about it at ProBlogger. You might also want to have a look at this article at Skelliewag on using Flickr Images.
  • TeachingSells is currently giving away complete access to its archives for a little as $1 for the 1st week. Do go ahead and take advantage of this opportunity.
  • Do you like BlogRush? If you do, you might want to have a look at Spottt - a new service launched by AdBrite, which seems to be quite similar to BlogRush, except that they use 125×125 graphic images. I’ve running it on this blog currently. Have a look at it in the sidebar.

More later…

First Week Impressions on Project Wonderful

February 25, 2008

project-wonderful.pngI started using Project Wonderful on several of my websites a week back, but with subtle differences in the way the ads were set up. Before getting to that, read my earlier post on Project Wonderful here. The aim was to get a better understanding of how their system works and the quality of bids placed on ad spots. I experimented with different ad sizes (125×125, 160×600, and 117×30) and different minimum bid amounts. On Online Presence (this blog), I decided to keep the minimum bid amount for 125×125 ads extremely low ($0.02), while on one of the sites, I set it higher ($0.05). For 160×600, I set it to $0.05. By the way, the pricing is per day. For another site, I kept no minimum bid amount. What this means is that, the first bidder gets a ad spot for free ($0.00) and then the pricing rises.

The pricing is obviously very low, but the aim was to see how high these can get during the ‘infinite auctions’ and if the minimum bid amount has a role to play.

How am I fairing so far?

Well, one week later I am richer by $2.12! Pathetic to say the least! But did the minimum bid amounts have anything to do with it? Let us examine this a little further now.

For sites where I set the minimum bid amount as $0.05, the number of bidders were low, but the quality of bids were better and the money made was also higher (obviously!). I ran blocks of 4 125×125 ads together as a skyscraper or as a horizontal ad strip, and these did make money consistently at above $0.05 per day with the highest getting to about $0.07.

For blocks where the bid amount was set to $0.02 or lower, there has been a flood of bidders on all days but quality of bids typically starts at $0.01 and does not go beyond the $0.02 set. For the 160×600 skyscraper ads, the money earned has been averaging at $0.07 per day (above the $0.05 minimum set).

For the unusual 117×30 ad spots, there was only 1 taker. I guess this is more to do with the fact, that not many advertisers will have graphics for such small ad spots. I’m going to retire this ad spot shortly!

So what does this mean? Do we let Project Wonderful control the bid process or does it make sense to set a minimum bid? At least after running this one week experiment, I would highly recommend that you do set a minimum bid amount based on the traffic that you get on your site. That is the best way to ensure you get a fair return on your ad space.

Now that I have a better understanding of how their system works, you can expect the minimum bid amounts to increase on some of the sites that I operate.

Have a wonderful project! :-)

bux.to: 2nd Week Update

February 19, 2008

bux.toIts been around two weeks since I started using bux.to and its time to report how I’m fairing on that website.

Since the last report, I’ve upgraded my account to a Premium Membership and have bought a referral package as well. The daily earnings is currently averaging about $35/day. This is quite impressive considering that only a few minutes needs to be spent on the site daily.

Premium Membership has a multitude of benefits:

  • You get an additional $0.0025 per click. This looks small but adds up to an additional $0.01 per 4 sites visited. It’s like the 5th click came for free. This is the amount you get paid for clicks from your referrals as well. Depending on the number of referrals you’ve got, this ’small amount’ can make a big impact on how much you earn.
  • Not just that, Premium Membership also ensures you get to click at least 20 ads per day. In fact, since the upgrade, I’m averaging in excess of 40 per day. This is in comparison to about 15/day for a Standard account.

The benefits can easily be seen from the above.

Sign-up for bux.to. The service seems to be quite legit.

Isn’t this Project Wonderful?

February 17, 2008

project-wonderful.pngThe goal of Project Wonderful is to make advertising online a less frustrating and more awesome experience. Project Wonderful uses a concept called ‘Infinite Auction” whereby advertisers bid for ad space on your blog. The highest bidder gets to have his/her ad displayed on the site for that day. This ensures you, as a publisher, get the best deal from the system.

To try out their system, I’ve reduced the OIOpublisher Direct ad spots by 2 and now run 2 Project Wonderful ad spaces on the sidebar. Since this is a new addition to the Project Wonderful system, the ad spaces are going for almost free right now!

This is a wonderful time for you to advertise on Online Presence as well.
