WordPress 2.3.2 released…
December 31, 2007
WordPress released Version 2.3.2 recently which is marked as an Urgent Upgrade to 2.3.x.
From their blog,
WordPress 2.3.2 is an urgent security release that fixes a bug that can be used to expose your draft posts. 2.3.2 also suppresses some error messages that can give away information about your database table structure and limits and stops some information leaks in the XML-RPC and APP implementations.
As a little bonus, 2.3.2 allows you to define a custom DB error page. Place your custom template at wp-content/db-error.php. If WP has a problem connecting to your database, this page will displayed rather than the default error message.
You can use a plugin like WordPress Automatic Upgrade to make the upgrade process simple.

Let your ads peel away
December 27, 2007
Have you had a look at PeelAwayAds? In my opinion this is a neat advertising option for publishers which is non-obtrusive. The ads stay tucked away in a corner till the user hovers the mouse over it.
Have a look at it in action at the top right corner of Online Presence.
Only if someone can put an advertising service around it, it will be that much simpler to use for bloggers.
But, if any of you are really interested in advertising on Online Presence using the PeelAwayAds system, do drop in a comment, and I’ll get in touch with you. This is eye-catching and will surely have higher click-thru rates, as far as I see.
An example of a PeelAwayAd is shown below:

Social Networking using Blogoria
December 26, 2007
Blogoria is a Blogger Search resource connecting Bloggers with other Bloggers, Readers and Advertisers.
Once you create an account for yourself, you can share your blog details with other bloggers or participate in their Discussion Forums which is powered by vBulletin. Since the website is new, the forums are yet to take off full steam. This is normal and as time goes by, the forums should get more and more active. Just like sites like MyBlogLog, you can add other bloggers into your network.
Blogoria has an interesting concept going. Give it a try…

Signup with Kontera and get a $25 bonus
December 19, 2007
I’ve mentioned about this promotion in the past, but it’s a good idea to throw in a reminder every now and then. After all, such good opportunities do not come by everyday.
If you sign-up with Kontera for their ContentLink service latest by 1st January 2008, you get a $25 bonus subject to you reaching 50,000 impressions in the 1st month.
It’s well worth a try if you are already not on Kontera. The program can be used in collaboration with Google AdSense.
I personally make a significant chunk of money every month from Kontera and their service is very good.

If you are confused and need some guidance on selecting a service provide that fits your needs and budget, you can have a look at http://www.webhostingchoice.com. WebHostingChoice is a simple “directory service” for web hosting providers.
You can do a quick search by providing the following information:

Or you can browse through their directory to see which of the providers meets your requirements.
Their Advanced Search feature allows you to select features that you require on the server as shown below:

Entrecard is an easy way to network with other bloggers. Create a card for yourself and host the widget on your blog.
You can drop your card on other blogs which runs the Entrecard widget.
The power of Entrecard comes from advertising. You earn credits on the network which can be redeemed for running your ads on other blogs. You can see the Entrecard widget on this blog under “Featured Sites”. I’ve also got it as part of this post:
You will see some ads already showing up on my Entrecard widget.
I also wanted to let you know about an Entrecard competition running on the Xavier Media Blog where 1 lucky blogger stands to win 700 entrecard credits.
