Books on Blogging

June 30, 2007

Blogs are a good source of information on blogging! But, there is an alternative source and a very good one at that — books. Yes! there are a lot of good books on blogging. What I’ve done here is to consolidate some available on Amazon. This is not a comprehensive list by all means but a good one for new bloggers wanting to learn some tricks.

Disclaimer: I’ve not read all the above books.

Powered by Google Adsense

June 29, 2007

You might notice some changes to the advertisements on this site henceforth. Online Presence has been accepted into the Google AdSense program and I’m giving it a fair shot.

Report from Day 1 regarding the quality of ads being served is simply outstanding. We all know that Google serves the best contextual advertisements and Day 1 proved so.Wish me more luck in my endeavor to make money online while spreading the word on how to do so.

Take daily backups of your blog

June 25, 2007

There is a new blog service in town. Its called BlogBackupOnline. Its currently in Beta and available for free use while still in Beta. A maximum storage of 50MB is provided for taking backups.

I guess a service like this would be very useful to avoid disasters like what I mentioned yesterday.

Upgraded to Wordpress 2.2.1

June 24, 2007

wordpress1.jpg

I’ve just upgraded this blog to run on WordPress 2.2.1. Upgrade was a smooth process and I didn’t notice any breakdowns. Let me know if you see something that is not working as expected.

On the flip side, just prior to the upgrade I noticed a few old posts where I used to split the post using “More” having completely screwed up the post. Clicking on the “Read the rest of this entry” does not bring up the rest of the content. I checked the backend MySQL database and that too seems to have it screwed. Not sure how and when this happened. Its quite sad to see a lot of posts being lost this way.

I have backups but all of them seem to have the same problem :-(

Have any of you faced this problem? What was the solution to fix it?

KeepCash: Another way to save money while shopping

June 24, 2007

Keep Cash is an online discount coupon store that will help keep your wallets in good shape! Its a well designed site that lets you easily navigate thru the pages to find exactly the right promo codes you’ve been looking for.

I wanted to see if I could get a good deal on an external hard disk which I have been wanting to buy for a while now. I came across this IOGear coupon which was simply outstanding. The coupon gives an almost 50% discount on the price of the product. Check it out for yourself.

Not only this, Keep Cash is the official site for the 2007 Black Friday. You can signup for notifications of deals for it right now itself.

All in all, this is a site to bookmark. Ensure you visit the site before making any purchase decisions. You can really save a lot of money.

Reviewback: You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours

June 23, 2007

Reviewback is an interesting concept that can help you generate some publicity for your blog! Its what I would love to call as You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.

reviewback.jpg

The concept is quite simple:

  • Submit your blog
  • Look for similar blogs that you want to write a review for. Click on the “Trade Reviews” button next to that blog listing. If the trade is accepted, both you and the other blogger writes reviews about each other’s blog!
  • Neat concept for getting free reviews of your site.

So, if you’re looking at generating incoming links to your blog, this could be a simple solution where you don’t have to spend a dime. Yes! You will need to spend some time writing reviews for other blogs!

PrimoFeed: ‘AuctionAds’ for Amazon.com

June 22, 2007

PrimoFeed is another of the advertising services that you can deploy on your blogs to make money online.  In my opinion, its quite similar to the AuctionAds service. Basically AuctionAds is a service on top of eBay and PrimoFeed can currently be called a service on top of Amazon.com. Its not that they focus only on Amazon. They have bunch of other services besides Amazon and anyone can tie up with them as long as they meet the requirements of the program; but Amazon seems to be the biggest right now and most of the ads are served from Amazon currently.

One nice feature that I liked about PrimoFeed is the fact that you can click on a “Details” link next to each ad block to get further details of the product being advertised. An example is shown below: Read more
